  • Product Description
  • The International Flavours of Seoul was created to highlight the international cuisines that reflect the city of Seoul. Seoul International Women’s Association (SIWA) is a dynamic and diversified group of women from all countries of the world, and through their food we can see a little of their cultures too. In conjunction with the Seoul Diplomatic Community, this book presents 172 recipes from over 50 countries, with 108 color photographs. Many recipes include some information about the dish and the traditions that surround it. Every recipe is presented in parallel English and Korean text, to provide not only an easy reference for Korean cooks, but also a useful tool for Korean speakers wishing to learn some English culinary terms and cuisine cultures of other countries. This book will appeal to expatriate Seoul residents for themselves and as a gift for their friends and families back home, as well as to Korean residents. Purchasing it will help Korean charities, as all the money raised from sales of the book will be distributed through SIWA Welfare, while at the same time creating an awareness of the diversity of the highly dynamic city of Seoul.

    About the Authors

Each of the many recipes in this book was contributed by a member of SIWA and/or Seoul’s diplomatic community. SIWA was first founded in Seoul in 1956, when a few foreign women gathered around a coffee table looking for support and purpose in their expatriate lives. This grew into what is now known as Seoul International Women’s Association, the largest international women’s organization in Korea with over 600 members including many from the capital’s diplomatic community.
