1. Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002)

Ryu tries to donate one of his kidneys to his sick sister, only to receive the diagnosis that his is not appropriate for her. On top of this, he is fired from his factory for missing work to care for his sister, and his severance pay is only 10 million won ($7,000). First he gets mixed up with an organ seller in the black market who steals his kidney, then he also loses his 10 million won. He gets a call from the hospital saying they have a match for his sister but it's too late. Ryu's girlfriend Young-mi suggests kidnapping a rich man's child, saying, "kidnapping for a good reason is not a crime..." With the accidental death of the young girl, the whole world turns its back on them. Dong-jin is a self-made man who started from the bottom as a technician. Unfortunately, his wife divorces him for not being attentive enough to his family life. The only thing he has left with is his daughter Yu-seon. One day, Yu-seon is kidnapped. A picture of her with her doll is delivered to him. After deep thought, he decides not to call the police and prepares the ransom, but the next day Yu-seon is found drowned. His daughter is now cold. Dong-jin begins the hunt to avenge his daughter's death while Ryu prepares a vengeance on the organ seller. (KOFA)

2. Old Boy (2003)

O Dae-su is an ordinary salary man with a wife and daughter who likes his drinks and to talk with his friends. His motto is “to get by day by day.” One night, he is kidnapped on his way home and thrown in a privately run prison. The prison looks like a cheap hotel room. All he has as his menu is fried dumplings, and all he can do in the tiny cell is watch TV. After about a year, he learns that his wife has been murdered and that he is the primary suspect. He tries suicide, but even this is not to be had. Vowing to take his revenge, he starts training his mind and body. Meanwhile, in an attempt to guess who could be responsible for keeping him in this cell, he begins to write a “Bibliography of Evil Deeds” trying to remember everything bad he had ever done in his life. He also starts digging a whole in the wall with steel chopsticks. Fifteen years passed by and just when the hole had gotten big enough to let him through, he finds he has been released and abandoned at the very spot that he was first kidnapped. He stops by a Japanese restaurant and he blacks out. Mi-do, the assistant cook at the restaurant takes him to her flat. Mi-do’s sympathy for Dae-su slowly changes to affection. Meanwhile, Dae-su finds out about the 7.5 storey prison through a receipt he had found in the fried dumplings, which had ‘Cheongryong(blue dragon)’ written on it. On the day of their first encounter, Wu-jin makes a proposal to Dae-su that if he were to find out why he had imprisoned him within 5 days, he would kill himself. Dae-su, in order not to lose his love Mi-do, and to uncover the vicious secret, must race with time to solve this puzzle. Just who was Lee Wu-jin, and why had he imprisoned Dae-su for 15 years? What will happen to the two when the secret is revealed? (KOFA)

3. Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005)

At the age of 20, Geum-ja (Lee Young-ae) is imprisoned for thirteen years for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a six-year-old boy. Her young and outstanding looks attract the attention of the media, and her life is covered by the news, even when she is in prison. For thirteen years, she is a model prisoner, following the rules very faithfully. 'Kind Geum-ja' is her nickname, as she wastes no time in winning over her cell mates' sympathies, helping them one by one until the day she is released. But from the very moment she walks away from prison, she begins her plan for vengeance, which she has been drawing up meticulously. The object of her revenge is Mr. Pak (Choi Min-sik), a former teacher who got her sent to prison. All the inmates that she helped in prison become instrumental for Geum-ja's revenge in diverse ways. What happened between her and Mr. Pak thirteen years ago? And what is the drive of her obsession for revenge? What will finally become of it all? (KOFA)
